If you have a question which is not answered here, please do not hesitate to contact info@essential-care.co.uk - Do you provide product samples?
A small selection of our products (Rose Moisturiser, Avocado Replenishing Cream and the Baby Repair Lotion only) will be available in sample sachets again from May 2009. Also, many of our products are available in small, inexpensive sizes. And the trial/gift sets (rose, citrus, Baby sets) are a good way of trying out several skincare products. - Which Essential Care products do not contain essential oils?
We offer a number of products for those looking for a fragrance-free option. For moisturising, this includes our Ultra Rich and Organic Superfruit Concentrate. As regards wash products, try our Gentle Herb Shampoo, Aloe Vera Bodywash and Olive Oil Soap. In the Mum and Baby range, the Soothing Salve, Repair Lotion and Nipple Balm do not contain essential oils. - Do the products have a shelf-life?
Yes. As we do not use harsh chemical preservatives, the shelf-life is shorter than for conventional health and beauty products. Shelf-life varies from 9 months to well over a year, but some products may last for longer if kept well. We make the products in small batches to ensure maximum freshness when they reach you. - Do I have to look after the products in any particular way?
The products should be kept at room temperature, or slightly below, but refrigeration is not necessary. To maximise their shelf-life, it is best to use the products with clean fingers. Always close the lid or cap after use to minimise bacterial contamination. - How are the products preserved?
Firstly, Essential Care does NOT use the paraben preservatives or any other harsh chemical preservatives. Preserving systems vary across the products: Products made without water (i.e. Ultra Rich, Calendula Balm, Lip Silk) do not contain any preservative; other products use a preservative system of herbs, antioxidants and or alcohol. All are approved by the Soil Association as both skin- and eco-friendly. Note that we do not use grapefruit seed extract (GSE) as a preservative system. Very often, grapefruit seed extract is synthesised, so is quite far removed the original grapefruit. Furthermore, a study in Germany in 1999 found that benzyl alcohol which had been added to preserve the grapefruit seed extract itself, was the sole source of GSE's preserving qualities. Interestingly we have not found organically certified grapefruit seed extract to be sufficiently effective as a preservative. - Do you have a list of product ingredients?
Yes, please click here. - Do the products contain alcohol?
Alcohol is used to make extracts (tinctures) of some herbs and flowers to ensure that their maximum therapeutic value remains intact. Alcohol also helps carry active plant extracts into the skin. The alcohol used is certified organic, derived from rye grain and is of the highest food quality standard. It is not to be confused with ethyl alcohol, which can be damaging to the skin. The percentage of alcohol used is also not drying to the skin. Alcohol helps act as a natural preservative. - What kind of water do you use?
We use a reverse-osmosis system for maximum water purity. |
