Gothic Beauty Queen Tutorial - £0.00
It’s the season to get spooky, but that doesn’t have to mean ugly! Abandon the fake fangs and dubious witchy outfits this year and go with a grown-up, glamorous gothic theme using our super-quick make-up how to.
Step 1: Prep the skin with a foundation or mineral powder in a shade paler then your own and use a light concealer, like our organic mineral concealer in Fair to hide any blemishes, redness or dark circles. The trick is to create an ethereal blank canvas.
Step 2: Shade from lid to brow with a light nude shadow – our mineral powder in ‘sand’ is perfect, then using a fine eyeshadow brush smudge a smokey brown or grey just above and below the upper and lower lash lines. Using our brown pencil and light strokes, deepen the eyebrows and comb into place. Finish with a coat of mascara.
Step 3: No-one thinks “I need to look healthy” for Halloween and this look is no different but an Edwardian blush high on the cheekbones will add a timeless vintage to your look and an otherworldly feel. Simply dust either a light pink, like our shadow in shell or a red colour, like our lipstick in Cherry Tart on the fullest part of the cheek only, using circular motions and dabbing in to blend. Ignore any of the normal rules of beauty and feel free to be slightly more heavy handed then usual – this isn’t a natural look and it is fine to get a little creative.
Step 4: This look is all about the lips. Prime the lips with our concealer to mask out the natural shape, the line with our brown eye and lip pencil. Fill the lips in with the pencil then using your pinky finger and either Cherry Tart if you are feeling a bit Snow White or Little Red Riding Hood, or my favourite Rasberry Coulis, a gorgeous sheer plum you can build intensity with, for a Miss Haversham vibe. Dab the colour onto the centre of the lips, blot with a tissue paper then dab again to build up the colour. I like to go for a stain but you can add a final slick of colour if you prefer a glossy look et voila, spooky and glamourous, whilst totally on trend for the season!
