Essential Care wins TIPS Best Organic Belly Balm award

Another accolade to Essential Care's Mum & Baby range. Our Bump Butter has just earned top marks with the midwife and parent panel testers at TIPS. Over 660 Parent Testers have joined the TIPS online community this year and only those products that meet certain purity standards could take part.
When selected for a trial, volunteer Parent Testers receive products to test. Here are some of their feedbacks: although the butter seems firm in the tub, Testers found it absorbed well and left their skin moisturised after just one application. A little of this butter goes a long way, and Testers were impressed by how cost-effective the product was. Testers agreed that the planned new packaging was a welcome addition to this range of quality of products which can be trusted to provide excellent skincare treatments.

The Green Beauty Bible

2009 has been our year for awards (20 so far) including in the fabulous new books by Jo Fairley and Sarah Stacey; the Green Beauty Bible (2nd edition in paperback) and their new Beauty Steals which focuses on easy-on-your-purse skincare. Margaret and Abi (pictured with Jo & Sarah) went along to the awards ceremony last week and heard about the rather mammoth efforts involved in getting input from the books' testing panel (7500 women surveyed over the past few years). It is quite an achievement to be recognised by such a broad panel and to celebrate our successes, the award-winning products - our new Coconut Candy Scrub, Lip Silk, Superfruit Concentrate and Calendula Balm - are all available at a great discount until December 14th 2009.

Essential Care promotes Fairtrade

We are delighted to announce that our Mint Mask has just become the first ever skincare product to be certified to both Fairtrade and Soil Association standards. Fairtrade Foundation certification for beauty products was launched today, enabling us to participate in this exciting ethical standard, another recognition of our commitment to ethical trade by an independent organisation. Fairtrade growers, in this case of our organic sugar, receive the Fairtrade price for their sugar plus the Fairtrade premium, a bit extra they invest in the education of hundreds of children in their town’s High School. Wherever possible, we source our other ingredients from developing countries from similar ethical cooperatives.

Essential Care Organic Superfruit Concentrate won Silver Medal

Our Superfruit Concentrate received a silver medal for Best Organic Skincare product at the UK Beauty Awards 2009! The winners were decided by public vote from a shortlist of 7 other certified organic products that had been selected by a panel of beauty experts. The panel this year was the largest ever and only those products that meet certain purity standards could take part. All of our other baby products (Repair Lotion, Soothing Salve and Massage Oil) received Highly Commended ratings.

Essential Care's Moisturiser is a finalist in the Soil Association's annual organic beauty awards

Our Moisture Cream (soon to be renamed 'Rose Moisturiser') was one of 3 finalists from over 50 entries in the Soil Association's prestigious annual awards for organic beauty products. The award was won by Balm Balm's organic geranium face balm and all entrants must be certified under recognised EU organic standards.

Essential Care wins RSPCA Business Award

At the RSCPA Good Business Awards ceremony last night Essential Care won the cosmetics category (small businesses). We were absolutely delighted to receive the award which was in recognition of our social responsibility policy towards animals: 100% vegetarian cosmetics, use of a volunteer human panel to test our products, and very strict choice of ingredients to ensure they are not tested on animals.
